Mr. Duffy served the Bush White House for over four years, most recently as Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy Press Secretary. His principal responsibility was working with the national media and the White House press corps on the highest profile public policy issues. He worked with the White House staff, the President’s Cabinet, Administration officials, and Congress on nearly every major communications, media, and strategic issue involving the President, the White House, and the Federal government.
Duffy was recruited to the West Wing from the White House Office of Management and Budget, where he was Communications Director. At OMB, he developed and led government-wide communications strategies for the President’s 2003 and 2004 budgets. He was also heavily involved in promoting the Bush economic program, Operation Iraqi Freedom, the War on Terror, recovering from the September 11th attacks, and the Medicare Modernization Act of 2003.
Duffy developed a strong policy background and ability to understand, translate, and be persuasive on highly technical issues as Communications Director for the powerful House Ways and Means Committee. He worked directly on tax, health, Medicare, trade, Social Security, and human resources issues.
Duffy also worked on the 2000 Presidential Campaign and in 2001, as Press Secretary for the Republican National Committee. He has been Communications Director for Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-NJ) and legislative aide to Rep. Harold Rogers (R-KY). In 1997, he was a press spokesman for New Jersey Governor Christie Todd Whitman’s successful re-election campaign. He has also worked in the private sector as Assistant Manager for Federal Affairs at Parsons Brinckerhoff, an international engineering consulting firm.
Over his career and 17 years in Washington, DC, Duffy has established a strong network of contacts in the White House, the Administration, Congress, and the media.
